Chekken
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 6, 2026
Chekken is a chess game for iPhone and iPad made by Bryce Jackson. This policy explains what the app collects and why. The short version: no ads, no tracking, and no personal details.
What we never ask for
Chekken never asks for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location or photos. There is no sign-up and no account to create.
Online play
The first time you play online, the app creates an anonymous guest identity. It is a random code kept in your device's Keychain. Our server only stores a scrambled (hashed) copy of it, along with a randomly generated fighter name such as "Iron Rook 4821".
To run online matches, the server keeps the moves of each online game, which attacks were used, which piece set each side wore, and when moves were made. This is what lets two phones play the same game and lets you rejoin a fight.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check which items you own. RevenueCat receives your guest identity and your purchase history for this app, and nothing else from us. We never see your payment details. RevenueCat's privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Games against the CPU
Games against the computer, your saved game, your settings and your fight record stay on your device. They are never sent to us.
How the data is used
Only to run the game: matching players, checking that moves are legal, restoring purchases and unlocking what you bought. We do not sell data, show ads, or share data with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Keeping and deleting data
Online game records are kept while they are needed to run the service. To have your guest identity and its games deleted, email us and include the fighter name shown in the app. Deleting the app also removes the identity from your device.
Children
Chekken does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
